For the tractor (the cab and head unit), the display vehicle uses the Shacman Delong X5000 “Dangerous Goods Transport Star” tractor, a professional tractor designed for hazardous materials transport.
In terms of power, the Delong X5000 Dangerous Goods Star can be equipped with either a Shaanxi Cummins X12 series 470 hp engine or a Weichai WP13 series 480 hp engine. The transmission options include a Fast 12-speed manual gearbox and a Fast 16-speed Intelligent AMT automatic gearbox. For auxiliary braking, it comes standard with a hydraulic retarder and engine i-brake cylinder braking technology, which can effectively reduce active braking frequency and control downhill speed on long descents, ensuring safer driving conditions.
The fuel tanker truck comes standard with ventilated disc brakes on the front axle, a 6×4 twin-drive tandem rear axle, and air suspension. On the X5000 Dangerous Goods Star, customers may also opt for the 6x4R drive form, which combines twin-drive with a liftable rear axle. This setup offers not only compliance advantages but also excellent maneuverability and flexibility. When driving empty, lifting the axle reduces friction, saves fuel and tire wear, lowers tire noise, and decreases suspension stress. It also shortens the turning radius for urban driving. This suspension effectively solves the challenge of carrying heavy loads outbound and running empty or light-loaded on return trips.
Inside the cab, the Delong X5000 adopts a low-floor, high-roof double-sleeper design to increase space for movement and rest. Standard features include the Isringhausen Huatai HT3000 multifunctional airbag suspension seat, multifunction steering wheel, large display, and automatic air conditioning. These ergonomic configurations improve driving comfort, reduce driver fatigue, and indirectly lower the risk of accidents.
Trailer – Full-load bearing, reinforced structure… industry-leading safety:
Beyond optimized exterior design, the trailer has undergone a comprehensive upgrade in safety, with enriched safety features that effectively reduce accident risks.
The integrated tank trailer adopts a frameless, full-load bearing chassis structure. Beneath the tank, lateral brackets are arranged at three points: the kingpin, the support legs, and the rear suspension. These wrap around the tank body to bear the vertical load transferred downward, while vertical bending moments are borne directly by the tank itself. Compared with semi-load-bearing main beam structures, this design effectively avoids stress concentration that could otherwise lead to cracks, leakage, or failure of the tank and anti-surge baffles.
Another advantage of the full-load structure is that the trailer’s main beam aligns flush with the tractor’s frame beam. This is achieved by applying a variable cross-section design and a lowered tank installation. In a collision, this prevents the trailer from damaging the tractor head, while also lowering the vehicle’s center of gravity, enhancing rollover resistance, and reducing overturn accidents.
The tank is constructed from 304H++ grade stainless steel, offering high strength, corrosion resistance, and heat resistance. Its mechanical performance exceeds the national standard by 25%, ensuring longer service life.
On both sides of the tank, Ω-shaped reinforcements are installed. Even in the event of a rollover, these reinforcements prevent direct contact between the tank and the ground. They also absorb most of the impact forces first, protecting the tank from cracks or leaks.
At the rear, special reinforcements are added. The taillights use high-transparency lamps, and high-strength anti-drilling beams, tail beams, and cargo hazard signage supports are integrated. With a 500 mm safety buffer, the structure can absorb greater impact in rear-end collisions, preventing direct damage to the tank or valves. The reinforced hazard signage ensures its integrity after impact, helping rescuers identify cargo for emergency response.
Key pneumatic components such as relay valves and double release valves are sourced from WABCO, a leading international brand. The integrated tractor-trailer matching results in braking air pressure 20% higher than conventional models and a 60% shorter brake response time. Braking distance is reduced by 10%, giving superior braking performance.
The wiring layout is carefully designed. Both tractor and trailer adopt separate electrical routing, which avoids interference while simplifying fault detection and maintenance.
The showcased stainless steel tank trailer uses German-style square-tube axles and German anti-roll air suspension, providing good stability and load-bearing capacity. For liquid cargo transport, this robust chassis greatly improves safety during cornering, lane changes, and driving on uneven roads.
The entire Shacman Delong X5000 6×4 stainless steel fuel tanker truck is fitted with vacuum tires and aluminum alloy rims. With an empty weight of just 6.2 tons, paired with the lightweight Shacman Delong X5000 tractor head, the rated payload capacity reaches up to 33.9 tons—1,400 kg lighter than comparable carbon-steel tank products.
The rear ladder and top working platform have also been improved. The ladder angle is more ergonomic, steps and platform are widened, and anti-slip wear-resistant panels plus raised guardrails are installed, enhancing worker safety during operations.
